On The Blues Scene!

For those with an eye for entertainment, here’s some news about our most exciting and entertaining up and coming UK blues band, BIG MAMMAS DOOR! With a recent live gig at London Soho’s ‘ain’t nothing but a blues bar’, BMD once again blew the crowds away with their soulful unique evolutionary sound. Lead singer Fiona had the crowds starry-eyed as she performed some of her latest tracks, as well as her classics ‘shout about it’ and ‘don’t you feel my leg’. ‘Ain’t Nothing but a blues bar’ was a picture that Thursday night. The audience were merry, excited, cheery and above all welcoming. Funny how much music can bring out the positive in someone.

Personally I could feel the impact Fiona and the band had on the crowds, especially being the fact that I am a fan and have been to a few of their gigs. I can promise every one I have been to, I’ve realised the same thing. As soon as that band hits the stage, Mal (electric guitar) starts strumming those strings, Rob(drums) starts bringing that beat and Joe(On Keyboard) introduces that soulful organ sound, the crowd are completely distracted from their drinks and conversations. Big Mammas Door takes over. And everyone instantly looks like their having the time of their life. Without a doubt, Big Mammas Door can bring the magic through their performances.

Fiona being in the film industry in her earlier years, has a very good knowledge of how to entertain the public. Her style beauty and charm is all shown in her performance. Mal who has also appeared with jerimiah Marques and West Weston’s Bluesonics and other various artists, can amaze the crowds within 10 seconds into a track. Thanks to his hard working attitude and his major success in the blues music industry, Mal could be classed as a legendary guitarist.

Joe Glossop our keyboard guy from Sheffield has also created himself a reputation. Starting of in blues and rock and roll, Joe has been gigging for many years now, working on many different projects. Joe completes the BMD gang with his magnificent keyboard talent. Costo (base guitar) originally from italy has developed an excellent gift in music, Costo can make any sound or instrument his own with his creative technique which fits in perfectly with the rest of the crew. And last but not least Rob Pokorny BMD’s drummer, another part of the bands backbone, Rob has been playing for 5 years now. Through those 5 years he has developed an excellent talent, as well as an extraordinary charm for the ladies!

Big Mammas Door will give you a whole new experience, it is the past and present mixed to make a modern unique sound. And as for the original blues lovers, this is just another band to put on your list. Big Mammas Door represents that old swing and jive Sound that has been underground for decades now. So anybody familiar with blues will have no choice but to love our new on the scene band.

Through out the beginning of September, BMD will be performing in Fiona’s home country, Ireland, at various venues such as the 'harvest Blue Festival', 'Whelans' and more.  However for those of you who are Londoners or London visitors Big Mammas Door will next be performing at London Charlotte st Blues Bar 11th of August at 9.30pm. For more info on the band, up and coming events and albums.
