Put Jokes Aside

Ironically, though Chief Adeniyi boasted of a happy marriage to his Igbo wife, he had a string of mistresses to prove his massive wealth.
One time, while addressing a meeting, he boasted how he had married the most beautiful woman, fair in complexion, as is typical with some Igbo women.  A woman well taken care of in the African way – not too skinny!
This twenty first century King Solomon has a flair for being above only, in wealth, power and women.  It is until he took his only son to study in America that disgrace fell upon his family just in one day.
“Wole, my successor must study abroad.  He has already manifested that he is a dare devil like me.  Those are the only words I can use to describe him,” he told his enchanted guests at one of his banquets.  However, the move to take Wole to study in America only turned him into a spoilt brat.
While in America, he astounded his friends when he turned out to be a serial heartbreaker.  In the course of three years, he had broken ten relationships: each time promising a blissful marriage only to break the relationship on the engagement day, without giving room for apology or remorse.
It is true that while in America, Chief Adeniyi sent his son large chunks of money and besides, Wole did some part time jobs.  In his studies, Wole proved brilliant. It wasn’t long that, most young girls went mad to fall for this young spirited Nigerian.  During parties which were hosted by his fellow countrymen living in America, he became one like a grain of gold in a sack of beans. He was the centre of attraction. Girls came around pumping kisses unto him like doctors pumping blood transfusion to patients.  Why, he simply had to offer a date and it was accepted without the slightest hesitation. To him it was a child’s play. He didn’t have to apply intricate language maneuvers to woo a girl.
Then Wole was back in Nigeria.  Those who knew him before could notice that the western world had helped him to change his accent and the way he walked.
Wole’s attitude puzzled many.  Within a short period, he had gained a gastronomic reputation of an extravagant young man who often organized big parties.  At least that is how he chose to fritter the wealth of his father.
While chatting and laughing with his friends during one of the parties, a young looking lady approached him.
“Blessing is my name,” she announced herself.
“Wow, its wonderful to meet you Blessing,” Wole replied.  It didn’t take time for Wole to notice that Blessing had an interest in him.  Blessing had just graduated from the University of Ibadan with a degree in law.  Beautiful and charming, the whole world whooped for joy when she smiled.  Soon there was a nascent intimacy building between the two of them.
‘She looks nice just for my kind of games,’ Wole thought one night before he resigned to bed.
There was nothing, not a solitary thing; Wole would not do for Blessing.  After too weeks, Wole indicated to Blessing that he was serious.  Blessing responded positively. She didn’t want to dilly dally on this proposal. Why, there were many older girls out there, desperate to get married, but none had shown serious interest in them.  This was certainly a golden chance for Blessing!  Blessing adored Wole.  She was besotted with him at least that is what it seemed.
